Proposed Constitutional Amendment to Allow Trump a Third Term Submitted to U.S. House
Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has introduced a constitutional amendment to the U.S. House of Representatives that would allow American presidents to serve three terms instead of the current two-term limit.
Ogles, aiming to pave the way for former President Donald Trump to run for a third term, announced the proposal and emphasized its importance for the governance of the country. “President Trump has dedicated himself to rebuilding the republic and saving our nation. As lawmakers and states, we must do everything we can to support him,” Ogles stated.
The Republican congressman proposed revisiting the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, which imposes a two-term limit on the presidency. „I am introducing this amendment to reconsider the restrictions imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms,“ he explained.
In Ogles‘ proposal, the phrase “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice” would be revised to read “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times.”
