According to reports by Anadolu Agency (AA), Trump referred to Putin by saying, “He wants to meet me; we’re arranging this meeting. President Putin has made it clear that he wants the meeting. We need to end this war; it’s a very bloody war.” However, Trump did not provide details about when the meeting might take place.
Zelenskyy: “Putin Is Afraid of Trump”
Trump had previously stated that he was ready to meet with the Russian President soon after taking office and expressed his intent to end the nearly three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war swiftly.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed last week in a three-hour interview with U.S. podcast host Lex Fridman that Putin is afraid of Trump.
Zelenskyy suggested that a ceasefire could be effective if Trump offered security guarantees but warned that without such assurances, a ceasefire could allow Russia to strengthen its front lines. He also alleged that Putin was planning to use Trump in a confrontation against him. Zelenskyy concluded, “Putin fears him,” while expressing confidence in Trump’s ability to stop Putin.
